Meet Our New CFI: Wade Wright
The Rogue Aviation team has been growing, and we’re so excited to share with you one of our newest Certified Flight Instructors… Wade Wright! He joined the team last month and has been up in the air training some of our amazing helicopter pilot students. We are honored to have him join the #flyrogue community!
How long have you been a pilot for?
I have been a pilot for five years now.
What inspired you to become a pilot?
My dad was a search and rescue helicopter pilot in Vietnam, and I grew up listening to all of his amazing stories. I’ve wanted to fly ever since I left the womb.
Is the job fun?
This job is TONS of fun! I fly helicopters. Need I say more?
How often do you fly?
I fly every week.
How long did it take you to become a pilot?
I took the slow route. I was working fulltime to help pay my way through each rating. From first rating to last, it took about four years to complete.
What ship did you practice in?
Most of my time has been in the Robinson R22.
What are you certified with?
I am certified with a Commercial, Instrument, CFI and CFII.
What’s the best part of being a pilot?
That’s a tough question… where do I start? That moment when your skids leave the pavement. It gets me every time.
What’s the worst?
Telling people you're a pilot.
Any other interesting facts about you we should know?
My wife and I love Italy. I popped the question in Rome two years ago. We went back the following year for our honeymoon and met Pope Francis!
